Tell us your story
We are always looking for people's stories about the dogs and cats they have rehomed from Battersea to use in our leaflets, publications or media. If you would like your story to be used, please fill in your details below.
About us
We aim never to turn away a dog or cat in need of help. We reunite lost dogs and cats with their owners; when we can’t do this, we care for them until new homes can be found for them; and we educate the public about responsible pet ownership. Every year the Home takes in around 12,000 dogs and cats.
Our 150th anniversary
Last year (2010) Battersea Dogs & Cats Home celebrated its 150th anniversary. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Home hosted a wide variety of special events throughout the course of the year.
Since the Home’s establishment in 1860 Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has cared for over three million animals. The animal rescue organisation is one of the most famous and longest-serving charities in the country and the Home is so proud to be London’s leading animal rehoming centre with 150 years of experience.
Amongst other exciting events that helped us celebrate this special year, we launched our very special commemorative book, where readers will be able to find out all about the history of the Home, and hear about some of Battersea’s most memorable residents.
We’re always eager to hear your stories, so if you have a heroic Battersea pooch or a Battersea Moggie that’s done something special then please tell us about them by visiting Your stories online
