Old Windsor Open Day a scorching success

Staff were re-acquainted with many ex-Battersea dogs who took part in the Best Battersea Dog contest. The competition was stiff and everyone who took part was a worthy winner, although after much deliberation, the award went to Husky cross Missy and her proud owner Avril Cohen. When asked why she chose Missy, Avril replied emotionally: “She just looked up at me and I fell in love. She’s changed our lives.”
As temperatures rocketed, the Hot Dog paddling pool was a huge hit for our canine visitors who appreciated a refreshing dip and there were long lines throughout the day for fun doggy games: Temptation Alley, Scurry and Retrieve.
There were some impressive outfits in the Fancy Dress contest including a fitting England themed Greyhound Sally, and ex-Battersea Staffie Bles who donned a Yoda outfit. However, the clear winner this year was Rachel Mailley and her delightful duo Roxy and Frankie whose Wild West theme wowed the judges and the crowd.
Battersea would like to say thank you to all the people and their pooches who showed their support on the day and helped the Home raise important funds for the dogs and cats in our care. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s event!
