President

As President of Battersea since 1984, His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent is committed to the welfare of animals.

An active supporter of the charity and previous proud Battersea dog owner, Prince Michael is  a frequent visitor to Battersea’s three centres,  joining HM Queen Elizabeth II, on her visits in 1986, 1991 and 2015 He also officially opened the Cattery at Battersea Old Windsor.  The Kent Building at Battersea’s London site is named in honour of our President and, following an extensive refurbishment which was completed in 2022, he again visited in May 2022 to reopen this building.

Speaking of the charity His Royal Highness said: “Regrettably, there are still, and possibly always will be, far too many stray or unwanted animals in Battersea’s care. Fortunately, many animal lovers continue to come to Battersea to find their perfect pet. I was able to do so myself and could not have wished for a better companion."
