Our strategy
In order to guide our work in the coming years, Battersea Dogs & Cats home has developed a five-year strategic plan to cover the period 2009-2013.
The strategic plan was developed by trustees and directors, in consultation with staff, and is structured around five key issues:
Providing the highest standards of animal welfare
Our objective is to ensure that the Home has an effective and adaptable approach to the way in which it takes in animals, in order to provide a consistent quality of care, and to have systems and processes in place to ensure that we are able to care for the animals effectively during their stay with us.
Increasing our campaigning and influencing role
Our objective is to increase our national profile and presence, and increase general awareness of our status as a charity, in order to:
- raise awareness of the policy issues that affect us, including strays
and responsible dog and cat ownership, and to raise awareness and
understanding of the breeds which most commonly arrive at the Home - increase opportunities for us to deliver the services we provide: rehoming animals (especially out of London), reuniting lost animals with their owners, and behaviour advice and training
- increase funding and support in order to continue our work
- communicate effectively through campaigning, the media, and our education work.
Increasing our geographical reach
Securing diverse and sustainable funding
Our objective is to develop a more diverse and sustainable funding base in order to be able to continue to provide our services, and to fund developments and improvements in the future.
