Brand new website

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home relaunch its website

Date:
18 August 2008

Today, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is relaunching its website with a brand new URL - www.battersea.org.uk, along with the newest gadget to help you find your missing moggie - the Lost Cat Kit.

The new website has been designed so that people can have immediate online access to the services the Home provides and information about the Home at the click of a mouse.  One of the newest tools available is the Lost Cat Kit; an online facility which allows you to report your cat missing to the Home's Lost Dogs & Cats Line.  A giant ball of wool has been installed in Battersea Park for one day today to launch this fantastic new tool - we assure you, it is a sight not to be missed!

The Lost Cat Kit service is the first in the UK to help you to define a search area for your missing moggie, build a missing poster with your cat's details to put up around your area and receive details of the latest cat arrivals at the Home.

Let us set the scene for you.  It's Sunday afternoon and you have not seen your cat since yesterday.  What can you do to start the search for your feline friend?  Use your mouse to find your cat and start your search using the Lost Cat Kit at www.battersea.org.uk.

The Lost Cat Kit will enable cat owners living within the M25 to take control of the situation if their cat gets lost.  Only 4% of the cats that come into the Home are reclaimed by their original owners with the help of the Lost Dogs & Cats Line, and we are confident that this addition to our new website will help reunite hundreds more owners with their missing pets.

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has 150 years worth of dog and cat expertise and experience to share with people.  We care for thousands of animals every year here at the Home and our new website will further help them to find loving new homes across the country.  People interested in rehoming a pet from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home can register online and start the search for their perfect pal.  Dog and cat lovers can access advice on pet care and contact the Behaviour Advice Line for information and tips on managing problem behaviour.

The new website also features lots of ways to get involved with the Home, including fundraising and volunteering opportunities.

Sign up to our Kitty Kabin or Kennel Sponsor schemes or, for the more adventurous, there's a whole list of fantastic treks and challenges, all in support of the Home.

For younger supporters, there are plenty of things to do, including fabulous word games and exciting competitions.  Our new online shop features great gifts for pet-lovers everywhere.

Helen Dexter, Director of Communications for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, said: "We are proud to launch our fantastic new website, which we hope will be of service to thousands of people across the country.  The new website will allow people to tap into our 150 years of experience of dog and cat care, and to find out more about life at the Home and how to support us.  The Lost Cat Kit is a great addition to the work already done by the Lost Dogs & Cats Line, and the online rehoming facility will help to find perfect homes for many more dogs and cats."
