Siberian Husky

Extremely elegant and intelligent, the Siberian Husky can make a fantastic companion for owners who understand its characteristics and are aware of its needs.

Siberian Husky

People sometimes acquire a Siberian Husky on the basis of its stunning appearance, however, and fail to factor in their training requirements and breed traits. As a result Battersea has seen an increase in the number of Huskies arriving at the Home.

Character

Huskies are both gentle and playful and at the same time wilful and mischievous. They tend to get bored easily and don’t like to be left alone.

Although they are highly intelligent and trainable you'll need a great deal of patience when working with them as they only obey commands if they see the point to them.

If socialised with them from puppyhood Huskies interact well with other pets. As with all dogs, however, their suitability to live with children or another dog depends on the individual dog rather than the breed.

If you are interested in rehoming a Siberian Husky and feel you have the relevant experience of the breed type, please contact our Rehoming Team on 020 7627 9234.

 Feeding

Here at Battersea we feed all our dogs on a mixed diet of wet and dry food kindly donated to us by Pedigree. Obesity in dogs is an increasing problem in the UK and it is essential that every dog, regardless of breed has a diet suited to its size and the amount of exercise it takes. If you have any concerns about your dog’s weight please discuss these with your vet.

Finally, don't forget that when feeding dog either canned or dry foods ample water must be available at all times.
