Dog Sledding to the Arctic
- Type:
- Treks & Challenges
- Dates:
- 30 March 2013 – 06 April 2013
Leave civilisation behind and let the huskies be your guide. The challenge: to sled 250km from Norway to Sweden through untouched nature, finishing at the amazing site that is the original Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarv.
Beginning in the Norwegian city of Tromso, you will be introduced to your furry field guides before a spending the night in a Lavvo, the original shelter of choice for the Sami people of Scandinavia.
As you adventure into the wilderness, you will be responsible for putting up your own tents as well as cooking for yourself and other team mates. What’s more, throughout the trip, you will be in charge of looking after your dogs; feeding them, harnessing them and making sure they have everything they need. In return, you get to be pulled across the stunning surroundings of the most remote countries of Europe! With temperatures falling as low as -30C, the bond between man, dog and team members becomes essential, and the real essence of teamwork is truly tested in this hostile arctic environment.
It’s not all hard work, though. The majestic beauty of this pristine environment is truly awe inspiring, and with the possibility of seeing the awesome display of the northern lights, an undoubtedly unforgettable experience.
This adventure is organised by the charity challenge event specialist Global Adventure Challenges on behalf of Battersea.
