Gift in Will Donations

Making a Will is really important - it is the only way you can be certain that your property and possessions will pass to those who you want to benefit.

Gifts in Wills (or 'legacies') of all sizes have formed a vital part of our income since the Home first took in stray and unwanted dogs in 1860. Today a legacy donation is an intrinsic means of funding for the Home, providing the majority of revenues, which enable us to care for the thousands of lost and abandoned dogs and cats we look after each year.

How a legacy donation can help Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

When you decide to make your Will, it is advisable to go to a Solicitor for help. They will help you leave clear and unambiguous instructions in your Will, including any gifts to a charity that you wish to make.

There are different types of gifts that can be included in your Will to remember the Home and help us continue to care for unwanted dogs and cats. In particular you can choose to gift the Home a sum of money (a 'pecuniary legacy') or a share in some or the whole of the estate (a 'residuary legacy'). Apply today or request our Legacy Pack which tells you all you need to know about making a gift to the Home in your will.

How will your Gift in Will help?

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home receives no government funding, relying entirely on public donations. Last year the average cost of looking after each animal was over £1,000.

If you would like to leave a legacy to the Home the main points to include are our name, address and registered charity number. We also have examples of paragraphs that can be inserted into your Will.

Thank you for supporting Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. If you are considering making a gift to the Home in your Will and you have any queries or if you would like to arrange a visit to the Home to meet some of our animals and see for yourself the work we do please email us or call Spencer or Camilla on 020 7627 9247.

Thank you.
