Giving up your pet for adoption

As well as strays, Battersea also takes in dogs and cats whose owners can no longer cope with them or who are no longer able to care for them due to a change in circumstances.

Behaviour problems

Sometimes owners feel they can no longer keep their dog or cat because of its behaviour problems. Behaviour problems can be very distressing and it is understandable that some owners feel their only option is to part with their pet.

Due to pressure on kennel and cattery space, we might not be able to take your dog or cat immediately and your details may be placed on a waiting list. We do treat each case individually, but please be aware that we may not be able to take your dog or cat in immediately.

In emergencies, we may be able to accept owners' dogs at other times, but please be aware that experienced veterinary or behaviour staff may not be available outside of these hours.

Customers wishing to gift their pet to the Home are asked to consider a donation of £50 to help cover a small amount of the costs that the Home incurs. Please note we are unable to accept cheques for this payment.

More information and directions to our three sites is available here.

*Calls cost 5p per minute from a BT landline, mobile charges may vary. All income donated from these calls will go towards the care of the dogs and cats at Battersea.
