Lost dogs & cats
Battersea's Lost and Found team help manage the intake of dogs and cats into the Home. They take in dogs and cats from their owners, and show people who have lost an animal around the kennels, in the hope of reuniting them with their lost pet. They also handle the strays brought into the Home by local authority Animal Wardens and members of the public and work closely with the Lost Dogs & Cats Line.
In 2008, Battersea received over 7,500 lost reports from owners whose pets had gone missing and nearly 11,000 found reports from people who had found a dog or cat, successfully reuniting 2,752 dogs and 109 cats with their owners. Unfortunately, the number of cats reunited remains relatively low, although with our Lost Cat Kit we are hoping to reunite hundreds more owners with their missing moggies.
Most stray dogs and many strat cats found within the M25 area come are brought into Battersea. These pages offer advice on what to do if you have lost or found a pet.
