Good News Roundup - Friday 12th June
12 JUNE 2020
In these uncertain times, we’re sharing our weekly round-up of positive things happening at Battersea, as well as heartwarming dog and cat stories from the UK and beyond.
We know that animals can be a great source of comfort so we hope it adds a bit of cheer to your day.
Unlikely friendships are the best kind
Two Border Collies have struck up an unlikely friendship with a young guinea pig who shares some of the exact same black and white markings as them! Guinea pig Margo is only 5-months-old and lives in Somerset with Jenna Wells and family. Border Collies George and Jenson have formed strong bonds with Margo and her guinea pig sibling, so much so that George loves nothing more than trying to herd them all up.
What would a stray cat keep in its backpack?
As part of the Sony Playstation 5 launch event this week it was announced that one of the titles coming to the console will be third-person adventure game Stray. Instead of being in the human third person however, players will play as a stray cat, (a stray cat with a backpack no less!) exploring the surroundings of a “decaying cybercity” defending themself and solving mysteries. The press release from publisher Annapurna Interactive says that “lost and alone and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cybercity and find the way home.” We’ll have to wait until 2021 to play Stray, but we can’t wait to find out what’s in that backpack...

It was all smiles with a tinge of sadness this week as the beautiful Daizy went off to her lovely new home. After spending just over a month stealing the hearts of foster carer Savannah and her siblings Natasha and Raymond it was finally time for permanent pastures new. While Savannah and co will be sad to see her go, Daizy’s new family has promised to keep up an endless supply of her favourite things: chicken, licking people’s faces, and piano music. We wish you all the best, Daizy!
