Good News Roundup - Friday 15th May
15 MAY 2020
These are turbulent times so we’re sharing some of the positive things happening at Battersea with all our dogs and cats in the hope it adds a bit of cheer to your day.
Here’s our rundown of happy stories and fun things from the last seven days from across Battersea and beyond.
Hooray for the RA!
This week we had a lot of fun teaming up with the Royal Academy to make rescue dogs and cats the subject of their #RADailyDoodle! We think all dogs and cats are masterpieces and each of the amazing drawings, paintings and renderings really captures them in their best light. We would highly recommend taking five minutes to scroll through Twitter to see all the worthy submissions. Keep an eye out for ex-Battersea cat Nutmeg and the beautiful Blossom the blind Basset Hound!
Missing sausage dog found with bacon!
Inquisitive 7-month-old miniature dachshund Floyd spent an intrepid three days lost on a 350-acre farm in North Yorkshire. After trying everything, his owners resorted to cooking bacon on disposable barbecues, opening tins of sardines and leaving trails of beef stock to lure him out. Eventually, following his nose, the pup finally returned home safe and sound, and thanks to all the delicious smells, more than a little bit hungry!

Homeward hound!
We’re delighted that the beautiful Bella is off to her new home this weekend. Her foster carer Kate snapped this regal picture of her taking the happy news very much in her stride, ahead of taking up her throne in her loving new castle. We wish you all the best, Bella!
