Good News Roundup - Friday 8th May
08 MAY 2020
To make the most of the good feeling of a sunny long weekend we’re sharing some of the positive things happening at Battersea with all our dogs and cats and in the hope it adds a bit of cheer to your day.
Here’s our rundown of happy stories and fun things from the last seven days from across Battersea and beyond.
Pickle’s no longer in a pickle!
We're delighted that 9 year old Staffie cross Pickle has finally found a home after more than 275 days with Battersea! In January, the nine-year-old Staffie-cross made Battersea history when she became the first dog to be placed in Battersea's new Community of Rehoming Volunteers in Guildford. Since then, she's come on leaps and bounds, making real progress with her separation anxiety. After several introductions over Skype, Pickle finally met her new owners in person and understandably it was love at first sight! Pickle was rehomed through our first Community Rehoming Volunteers in Guildford, who are helping us be there for even more dogs and cats in the UK.
We’ve all done it! Woman accidentally runs 31 miles in a dog costume
A fundraiser carrying out The 2.6 Challenge, which has replaced this year’s London Marathon, in her garden has accidentally run 31 miles while dressed in a dog costume. While the dog costume and the running was intentional, Annie Rawlinson was aiming for the traditional 26 miles, while carrying out the challenge for Dogs Trust, but discovered a little too late that her husband hadn’t paid quite enough attention when setting up the route!
If you’d like to take on the 2.6 Challenge in aid of Battersea, (running, dog costumes and husbands optional) then get involed.

Is this the happiest dog in the world? Mel at our Brands Hatch centre snapped this glorious picture of the beautiful Oscar who was over the moon to be heading off to his loving new home this week! We wish you all the best Oscar!
