At Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, we know from experience the importance of keeping our animals happy and healthy.

We often see shocking cases of dogs and cats whose coats have been sorely neglected. We brush, trim, wash and give them the specialist treatment they deserve. In doing so, we help to bring the shine back not just to their fur, but also to their personalities. Grooming is the beginning of their recovery at Battersea – and their new life.

As a professional pet groomer, you can help us provide this specialist care for more dogs and cats in need by teaming up with us for our Brush Up for Battersea fundraising campaign.

What is Brush Up for Battersea?

We are asking pet groomers to give £2 (£1.66 plus VAT) per client to help Battersea continue to look after our vulnerable dogs and cats.

We’ll give you everything you need, including a free welcome pack containing Brush Up for Battersea posters and stickers for your clients.

How does Battersea support pet grooming regulation?

Battersea supports calls for the dog grooming industry to be regulated. Dog owners need to know they are leaving their pets in safe hands with a trained practitioner.

The Pet Industry Federation (PIF) runs a Quality Assured Standard for Dog Groomers scheme. Dog groomers wanting to join the scheme are audited by inspectors against a standard. Find out more

I’ve seen a dog groomer taking part who dyes fur colour, do you agree with this?

Owners have a duty of care to look after their pets responsibly in ways which don't threaten their welfare. Battersea would not encourage anyone to dye their dog or cat's fur in any way that threatens the animal’s health, and is totally opposed to the use of food colouring or any toxic dye on animals.
