More about Dean

Meet Dean!

Dean is an 8 month old energetic Akita with a big heart and an even bigger personality. Dean was found as a stray but he has not let that hold him back. He is a playful, affectionate dog who loves people and thrives on one on one time with his carers.

As an adolescent dog, Dean will need around three walks a day, mental stimulation, and plenty of rest. He is still getting used to people handling him and will benefit from consistent, positive training to help him grow into a confident, well-mannered adult. He can forget his manners and and become a little overstimulated when stressed, aroused or excited, so new owners must be confident to continue training in this area with a dog of his size, and at an age where he will test the boundaries.

Dean enjoys playing with other dogs, though he can be a little pushy for play, so a tolerant, steady canine friend could be a good match for him. sadly he's a little too excited by smaller animals so we don't think he would suit a home with cats or small dogs. A secure, private garden is essential for him to safely burn off energy.

Dean is bright, happy, and loving, and with the right guidance and structure, he’ll make a wonderful lifelong companion for the right people. Due to Dean entering adolescence he will need owners with some experience either with the breed or with larger sized dogs, or to at least done extensive research into the breed so they can fully except what he could turn into as he matures.
