More about ELEANOR

Eleanor is a graceful Greyhound who has retired from racing and is now ready to find her forever home. She came to us from another rescue, so, while we don't know much about her past, we've gotten to know her sweet, gentle nature here at Battersea.

She can be a bit shy and cautious in new surroundings, but is quick to warm up and has proven to be a friendly and affectionate companion. When out with other dogs, Eleanor likes to keep to herself, preferring to explore at her own pace. While not the most playful with other dogs, she is willing to join in the fun if gently encouraged and is happy to walk with other dogs around the park.

Although we have not seen any chase behaviour from Eleanor, she is an ex-racing Greyhound and could still show those breed traits at any time. For this reason she will need to be muzzled when out in public. Once settled into her new home, she still may want to enjoy a good run around. She is fully comfortable wearing a muzzle, though new owners should keep up with muzzle training, so that she retains a positive association with it.

Since Eleanor has likely never lived in a traditional home, her new family should be ready to guide her through the transition from racer to beloved pet. Patience and understanding will be key as she learns the ins and outs of home life. She is a smart girl and quick to learn.

If you're familiar with the wonderful quirks of Greyhounds and are prepared to offer Eleanor the loving home she deserves, you'll be rewarded with a loyal and gentle companion.
