Meet our beautiful Fern!

Fern was gifted to Battersea because she started to show a strong chase drive towards wildlife, where she was not able to be recalled when off lead. Fern was originally wanted as working dog, bred for hunting stock, so owners will need to continue training with this lovely lady.

During her stay, sweet Fern has proven to be quite a sensitive lady. She has struggled to settle in kennels, and often seeks reassurance from kennel staff, sticking to them like glue where she can. Was seen as quite an anxious girl.

As of late, Fern has really found herself and has come out of her shell alot. She will seek fusses from almost anyone, but is a lot more confident within herself. She has become very playful with other dogs, so is proving to be very social! Owners will need to manage their expectations initially whilst she settles, as she is likely to take some time before opening up to them and showing her true colours. She has however, proven herself to be a very loving and affectionate companion, who gains a lot from the company of her people.

She is a typical busy spaniel at times, who will require owners who have some experience, knowledge of the breed and are prepared to provide all the mental and physical stimulation that Spaniels need. They will need to give her a settling in period in her new home to give her all the time and space she needs to find her feet and bond. Once settled and bonded, she is sure to make a lovely companion to whoever is lucky enough to have her! Fern also has the potentially to live with another furry doggo friend if the right set up and match for her!
