Muddy Dog Trek 2020
Unfortunately we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel Muddy Dog Trek South Downs and Cotswolds this year.
We will be contacting all participants that have already registered for the event, with more information and next steps. We know this will be disappointing news for all those who have signed up to participate and we can only apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Fundraising
Did you know that Battersea relies entirely on donations to care for the thousands of animals who arrive at our gates every year?
By taking part in the Muddy Dog Trek and raising money, you’ll help us to be here for every dog and cat and give each one the love and care they need to find their forever home.
We ask that every participant raises a minimum of £150/£200 (10km/20km) in sponsorship so that we can ensure as much money as possible goes towards helping our dogs and cats. You will be given up to one month after the event to complete your fundraising too, so you do not need to have raised the full amount by event day.
We have lots of fundraising tips and information to help you reach your target in our Fundraising Guide below.
Where will the money I raise go?
The money you raise by taking part in the Muddy Dog Trek will go towards the running of Battersea and the care of our dogs and cats.

If you and all of our Muddy Dog Trek 2020 participants raise £200, this would pay for the care of 80 dogs for the duration of their stay here at Battersea.
TRAINING

VOLUNTEERING
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help at our Muddy Dog Trek events. You’ll have a day filled with plenty of fun, spend time with lots of wonderful dogs and humans and support Battersea in the work that we do.
Depending on your dog experience you could find yourself out on the route at one of the rest stops encouraging participants along the way or start and finish area cheering our participants over the finish line and giving them their well deserved medal (and rosette for the dogs).
A typical day with us at the Muddy Dog Trek can be a long one (we would ask you to arrive at 8am). More information about your role will be provided to you nearer to the day. We will provide you with a volunteer t shirt on arrival which we would like you to keep as a memento and after the day is over we will have a little thank you gift for each of you to take home.
One thing we do know for sure is that we couldn’t hold this event without you, so please sign up to help us deliver the Muddy Dog Trek events and raise much needed funds to care for and support the dogs and cats in our care. Thank you – we look forward to seeing you on the day.

Can any dog participate?
The Muddy Dog Trek is a challenging event and will not be suitable for all dogs. Please consider the below before registering.
All dogs must be at least one year old on the day of the event, be sociable with other dogs and humans, they must be fully vaccinated and they must not be in season.
Many flat-nose, overweight or older dogs might struggle to complete the 20km distance but may be able to complete the 10km distance if they are used to regular long walks. We advise speaking to your vet before registering as all dogs are different. We also advise that in the lead up to the event, you should consider going on a few long walks, gradually increasing the distance to improve your dog’s stamina prior to the event.
SENDING YOUR MONEY IN
There are several options for you to choose from in order to send in your sponsorship money for the Muddy Dog Trek.
If you have an online giving page, ensure all your sponsorship is on here and this will come to Battersea automatically.
If you would prefer to make an online bank transfer, please contact the team and we will provide our bank details as well as a unique reference to use.
Alternatively, you can see other ways of sending in your sponsorship here.
