Stray Over FAQ
Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our Stray Over event.
Participants will be expected to arrive at 6pm on the evening of Friday 28 September.
Stray Over Windsor will take part at Battersea's Old Windsor Centre, Priest Hill, Old Windsor, Englefield Green, Windsor, SL2 2JN.
Our Old Windsor centre has been open since 1979 and cares for more than one thousand animals every year. It operates in the same way as the London centre but with even more outdoor green space for our dogs to stretch their legs in a quieter environment away from the city.
Some examples of things you will need to bring are a sleeping bag and mat, warm clothes/thermal base layer, waterproof clothes and any medication you need. A full list of everything you will need will be available on our website.
This is a challenge event which will still go ahead if it rains. There will be full health and safety measurements in place, with an inside storm shelter established. The team at Battersea will make judgement on whether to bring everyone inside or not depending on the weather. All team members will be provided with a poncho. We advise you to prepare for all weather eventualities and to bring suitable waterproof and warm clothing and sleeping bags.
The team at Battersea will provide clean, indoor toilets for all participants located close to the sleeping area. A hot meal will be provided as part of the evening and tea, coffee and drinking water will be available throughout the evening and night. Breakfast will also be provided the next morning before everyone departs. Unfortunately, there will not be any showering facilities available to participants.
There is no need to worry if a member of your team can’t make it. All we ask is you find someone else to fill their space. We can take name changes up to two days before the night. To let us know of a team member change, please just get in touch with the events team at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0203 887 8366.
Unfortunately, we cannot permit any participants to bring their dog with them on the night.
Food and drink will be provided for all participants throughout the night, so there is no need to bring any with you. However, if you would like to bring in your own snacks for the night then that is absolutely fine. No alcohol can be brought on to the premises by participants. Please see the related question below.
It is important to us that the evening is a fun and sociable event, so each participant will be allocated four drinks tokens upon arrival that can be used to claim free drinks from the bar. Bringing your own alcohol to the event is strictly prohibited. We ask that all participants are sensible and take responsibility for their own welfare. It is extremely dangerous to drink excessive amounts of alcohol and to sleep out where it may be wet and cold, with risks of illness increasing significantly. We reserve the right to refuse alcohol to any participant should we deem them to have had enough and to confiscate any alcohol brought on to the premises.
Breakfast will be provided from 5.30am and participants are free to leave the centre at 7am on Saturday 29 September.
Yes, if you deposit the cash raised at the event into your bank account you can then add the funds yourself to JustGiving – make sure to untick the statement about Gift Aid as this sort of fundraising is not eligible.
