Stray Over FAQ

Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our Stray Over event.

Who can take part?

The event is open to corporate teams in all business sectors. We ask that your teams consist of a maximum of five people, including a Team Leader. The team can be solely from one company or can be a combination of business individuals who wish to join together.

What time does the event start?

Participants will be expected to arrive at 6pm on the evening of Friday 27th April.

Where will the event take place?

Stray Over will take part at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s iconic centre in Battersea, London. The address for this is Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, 4 Battersea Park Road, London, SW8 4AA.

What do I need to bring with me on the night?

Some examples of things you will need to bring are a sleeping bag and mat, warm clothes/thermal base layer, waterproof clothes and any medication you need. A full list of everything you will need will be available on our website.

What happens if it rains?

All team members will be provided with a poncho and/or umbrella. In the event of adverse weather and it is deemed unsafe to continue the event, the team at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will provide an alternative sheltered location. We advise you to prepare for all weather eventualities and to bring suitable waterproof and warm clothing and sleeping bags.

What welfare facilities will be available on the night?

The team at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will provide clean, indoor toilets for all participants located close to the sleeping area. A hot meal will be provided as part of the evening and tea, coffee and drinking water will be available throughout the evening and night. Breakfast will also be provided the next morning before everyone departs. Unfortunately, there will not be any showering facilities available to participants.

What if someone in my team can’t take part anymore?

There is no need to worry if a member of your team can’t make it. All we ask is you find someone else to fill their space. We can take name changes up to two days before the night. To let us know of a team member change, please just get in touch with the events team at specialevents@battersea.org.uk or call 0203 887 8366.

Can I bring my own dog?

Unfortunately, we cannot permit any participants to bring their dog with them on the night.

Can I bring my own food and/or drink?

Food and drink will be provided for all participants throughout the night, so there is no need to bring any with you. However, if you would like to bring in your own snacks for the night then that is absolutely fine. No alcohol can be brought on to the premises by participants. Please see the related question below.

What are the policies on drinking alcohol on the night?

It is important to us that the evening is a fun and sociable event, so each participant will be allocated four drinks tokens upon arrival that can be used to claim free drinks from the bar. Bringing your own alcohol to the event is strictly prohibited. We ask that all participants are sensible and take responsibility for their own welfare. It is extremely dangerous to drink excessive amounts of alcohol and to sleep out where it may be wet and cold, with risks of illness increasing significantly. We reserve the right to refuse alcohol to any participant should we deem them to have had enough and to confiscate any alcohol brought on to the premises.

When will I be able to leave in the morning?

Breakfast will be provided at around 6am and participants are free to leave the centre at 7am on Saturday 28th April.

Can I add cash donations raised at an event to my Just Giving total?

Yes, if you deposit the cash raised at the event into your bank account you can then add the funds yourself to JustGiving – make sure to untick the statement about Gift Aid as this sort of fundraising is not eligible. Read further information about how to add cash donations that have been raised offline

Is there an age limit for participation?

All people taking part in Stray Over must be 18 or over.

I can’t take part but can I volunteer?

If you would like to volunteer at Stray Over, please email specialevents@battersea.org.uk. Thank you!
