When is Wear Your Whiskers?

Wear Your Whiskers took place on Friday 27 October 2017. Details of the 2018 event will be available here soon.

Can I organise Wear Your Whiskers on another day?

Of course - choose whatever day works best for you.

 

Can I take part on my own, or do I have to be with a group?

Wear Your Whiskers is open to everyone, whether you are part of a group or doing it by yourself. Why not ask people to sponsor you to wear whiskers for the day? Set up a JustGiving page so that people can sponsor you online, or download the sponsorship form and collect donations on the day.

How do I raise money for Wear Your Whiskers?

Raising money is the simple bit. Just ask people to donate £2 each (or £1 if you are at a school) to take part and wear whiskers for the day.

You could raise even more money for our dogs and cats by organising fundraising activities. How about having a pooch themed cake sale, or play one of our games, such as ‘The Big Battersea Sweepstake’? You could all sponsor your boss to wear the silliest whiskers all day and post it online using the hashtag #WearYourWhiskers. Or how about hosting a competition, awarding the most creative person for the best crafted mask or painted face? Just ask for donations to take part.

How do I send in my money?

Collect the donations in a pot and then deposit the money into your bank account. Choose if you want to:

Don’t forget to Gift Aid your donations by filling out the form in your fundraising pack.

Some people might forget their change on the day, so they might want to text 70099 to donate £2. If you’ve set up a JustGiving page, share the link to keep track of the total you’ve raised online.

When will I get my fundraising pack?

Fundraising packs are now only being emailed to ensure they arrive by Friday 27 October. Do let us know if you need something sent in the post, but please be aware that it might not get to you by Friday 27 October. Email the Whiskers team at whiskers@battersea.org.uk or give us a call on 020 7627 7883.

Can I get more fundraising materials?

You can find downloadable fundraising materials on the Wear your Whiskers home page. If you need anything else, email whiskers@battersea.org.uk and one of the Whiskers team will get back to you. Please note that to save on resources, we are encouraging organisers to collect cash donations in an old biscuit tin or jar. Why not pop the stickers in your fundraising pack onto the side?

Can I turn Wear Your Whiskers into a Halloween event?

Wear Your Whiskers takes place on 27 October, which is very close to Halloween. Whilst there is no specific Halloween theme to the day, feel free to turn your spooky celebrations into a fundraiser for Battersea, or add a ghoulish element to your Wear Your Whiskers day. After all, mysterious cats and Halloween go hand in hand!

Where will my money go?

The money raised from your day will go towards helping the dogs and cats at Battersea, who need our care and support whilst we find them new loving homes. Read more about the animals in our care.

I don’t want to draw on my face, can I still take part?

Wearing whiskers does not mean you have to paint or draw them on. There are plenty of other ways you can take part. Check out our Pinterest board for lots of ideas on how you can wear paint-free whiskers on the day.
