Your fundraising, your way
Be an at home hero
Fundraising from home might look a little different, but your support has never been needed more. That’s why we’re asking you to get creative and be an At Home Hero for rescue dogs and cats. We’ve put together a variety of ideas to inspire new ways you can continue to fundraise for the animals in our care.
Think dog and cat movie night, running a sponsored 5k, a pet drawing challenge or even an isolation celebration. Big, small, tried and tested, or totally original – it doesn’t matter what your idea is, because it all makes a massive difference for rescue dogs and cats.
We aim to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help, caring for them until their owners or loving new homes can be found, no matter how long it takes. By fundraising for Battersea, you will help us to provide care for thousands of lost and abandoned animals that arrive at our gates every year.
Fundraise with your pet
Pet trick challenge
Film your pet doing a new or favourite trick, such as a high five, and share it on social media. Challenge your friends with pets to do the same and donate £5 to Battersea. Don’t forget to tag Battersea and we’ll re-post your video!
Have an isolation celebration for your pet’s birthday
Make their day by baking one of our dog or cat cake recipes! Don’t forget to set up a Facebook Fundraiser or donate on our website to help other animals on your pet’s special day. We’d love to be tagged in any photos of your pet’s birthday celebrations on social media!
Dog walk challenge
Choose any distance and ask friends and family to sponsor your dog walk. It could be 5km in a day or 30 miles in 30 days! Your walk, your way. Don't forget to set up your JustGiving page.
Get creative with your pet!
Take a picture of your pet and then draw or paint your own version. Post it on social media, tag Battersea and ask friends and family to donate what they think it’s worth. Don’t stress if drawing isn’t your thing, take a funny pet selfie to post instead! Nominate your friends to do the same and donate £5 to Battersea.
Learn a TikTok dance
…or do the #LevelUp Challenge with your dog or cat and post it on social media. Nominate your friends with pets to do the same and donate £5 to Battersea.
Fundraise with your friends and family
Organise a virtual movie night
Choose your favourite animal film and set a time for everyone to start virtually watching together. Encourage people to donate to Battersea to join, for example you could set the suggested donation as the cost of a cinema ticket.
Host a virtual dinner party
You could even dress up for the occasion – choose a theme or go all out in black tie! Ask people to donate their chosen amount to Battersea to take part, or suggest they give the cost of a meal out.
Host a virtual quiz
Arrange a video call on Zoom or Skype and invite participants to donate £5-£10 as their entry fee on your fundraising page. You can be quiz master or do a round each – why not make it a weekly event! Don't forget to set up your JustGiving page.
Have an isolation celebration
Got a birthday or anniversary during lockdown? Donate the cost of a birthday meal out or set up a Facebook fundraiser and ask your friends and family to donate to Battersea in place of gifts.
Donate as you shop and sell
With more time to spend at home, now is the perfect time to declutter your shelves and donate. You can sell your unwanted items on eBay and donate the money to Battersea. Also, don’t forget when you shop on Amazon, sign in through AmazonSmile, choose Battersea as your charitable organisation and Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your purchases at no extra cost to you.
