More about GEELO

Meet our wonderful ex-racing greyhound Geelo, who is now racing to find his new forever home...

Geelo is a total character. He's always happy to see people, and even does a special tap dance to show his excitement. He has found life in kennels quite difficult, and doesn't like being on his own much. He really enjoys the company of his favourite people, especially if they have food and tennis balls to share!

Although Geelo has retired from racing, he still loves to do high-speed zoomies sometimes, so he would love a spacious, secure private garden to do laps in and enjoy time off lead. He's looking for new owners that will provide him with some lovely walks, and all the cuddles and fuss he deserves. His foster carers say that he's a very affectionate boy, and will approach anyone for love.

Geelo does have a sensitive side to him, particularly when he is settling in to a new environment. His previous owner reported he trembled in his bed for the first few days he was at home. Geelo will need new owners who are understanding of his sensitive side and will give him the time and patience he needs to come out of his shell. They should ensure to never overwhelm him with hands on fuss, especially when he is settled on his bed. He does warm up quite quickly and will soon be your new best friend.

Geelo's new owners would benefit from doing some research into caring for sighthounds. Greyhounds are known for their chase drive, and as an ex-racing dog, Geelo will need to wear a muzzle and be kept on lead when walking in public areas.

If you think you have the perfect home for this boy, then please contact the Rehoming team in London at rehoming@battersea.org.uk, providing an overview of your previous experience with dogs, current set up and how you can meet his needs.

If you have not registered yet, please do so on the Battersea website https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehoming before getting in touch.
