Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Brands Hatch is situated just off the A20 between the villages of West Kingsdown and Ash in Kent, conveniently between the M25 and M26 motorways.

The site was purchased in 1996, to help us house our dogs and cats while building work was going on at our other country centre at Old Windsor. 

It soon became clear there was a need for us to have a rehoming centre in Kent so we opened Brands Hatch properly.  We always knew the original kennels and cattery would need replacing to keep the centre up to Battersea's high standards so we started rebulding the centre in 2006. 

 It took 18 months to complete but the centre remained open during the building works, with dogs and cats for rehoming housed in temporary kennels.  In July 2007, the new facility was officially re-opened, providing accommodation for up to 60 dogs and 35 cats in the beautiful Kent countryside. 

The large kennels, which have heated floors and sound absorption technology, are surrounded by 12 acres of fields, including a woodland trail, to help with training and exercising the dogs. 

The Coco Marcus Behaviour Unit is designed to hold larger breeds and dogs that might need help with behaviour issues.

The sense of calm is accentuated in the state-of-the-art cattery with heated shelves for the cats and large external runs. 

The on-site veterinary clinic and visitor reception and shop are light and airy so the whole effect is one of cleanliness, peace and tranquillity.  Behind the scenes, the kitchens, laundry and bathing areas for the dogs are all designed to make the whole place run efficiently. 

Brands Hatch provides a calmer environment for those dogs and cats struggling to cope with the busier environment in London.

Pick up the A20 at Junction 3 of the M25, and follow the signs to the racing circuit.  Pass the Brands Hatch racing circuit on the left-hand side and carry on straight into the village of West Kingsdown.  Near the end of the village you'll pass the Portobello Inn.  Take the next left into Forge Lane.  Take the second left off Forge Lane into Crowhurst Lane.  Follow the road for a mile, and our Brands Hatch site is on the left-hand side.

The nearest stations are Eynsford or Longfield and the Home is situated about five minutes drive from the stations. Trains run from London Victoria, some are via Bromley South or Swanley.
