Crazy cat and daft dog names

Next time you are at the park don’t be surprised if you are greeted by a dog called Chicken-Fish or come across a cat named Pickywickywoowoo, as these are just some of the weird and wonderful names we bestow upon our pets.

Following a survey on our Facebook and Twitter channels, we have revealed some of the nation’s craziest cat and daftest dog names. It appears we are quite creative when it comes to naming our four-legged friends. The top 20 are:

We take in around 9,000 dogs and cats every year so we also have our share of creatively named dogs and cats, such as Madame Socks (pictured) who was recently rehomed.

Rob Young, Operations Manager at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home says: “You can be a little bonkers when naming your pet - just remember you may have to shout it out in the park! Around half of the dogs and cats we take in are strays so we constantly have to come up with names to give our new arrivals. We love the wacky names in our top 20 – they are truly original. You never know, they may inspire us when it comes to naming some of Battersea’s furry residents.”
