Dog Rescue Stories
We're always delighted when our dogs and cats find new homes and love to hear how they are getting on. If you have a Happy Ending story please email it to paws@battersea.org.uk or submit it online via the Your Stories section. Here we share some of the uplifting updates received so far.
We hope that reading about the joy rehomed animals can bring will inspire more people to welcome a Battersea Dogs & Cats Home resident into their life and generate yet more happy endings.

Joel and I collected Spike (previously Muffin) from Battersea on Saturday, 26 January 2013. I remember the journey as if it were yesterday; having to explain to my eight-year-old son Joel that we may not be able to take Spike home as he might not like us; Joel kept his fingers crossed for the entire journey. He states that as soon as Spike entered the 'meeting' room: "I fell in love with him Mummy".

Our Battersea cat sadly passed away a couple of years ago at the grand old age of 16. Our Battersea dog, who we adopted three years ago, almost to the day, is now aged four. Shortly after we adopted him, we named him Mr P (or Pugin as his formal name) and he brings us so much joy every single day.

Just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wooferful new year. Mum and Dad brought this big tree into the living room and covered it with sparkly balls and pretty lights, and underneath it there was lots and lots presents for me. I spent all Christmas opening and playing with new toys, and by the end of the day I could even open them by myself. I had lots and lots of fun.

I’m Elektra and I’m an 8-year-old Russian Black Terrier (RBT). My mum discovered me at Battersea in Old Windsor nearly eight years ago (I was very young - only 15/16 weeks old). Mum wasn’t even looking for another dog. Her and Dad already had Shadow - a 2-year-old RBT, but after their assessment and after I met Shadow I went home with them just over a week later.

We have had Che now for two years. He has settled in with us really well, he is such a gorgeous dog, so well behaved, but at the same time, he is full of life and we love him dearly.

You may remember me by my nom de plume ‘Dolphin’. Like my favourite recording artist Prince, I have now changed my name after a difficult period in my life and am now called Nellie. There are other affectionate sobriquets too, but I would rather start this missive retrospectively. I’m writing to inform you of my gratitude to the kennel hands and re-homers, and offer brief reportage as to the state of my affairs since we parted in October. I have such fond memories of my time with you and since I left, my life has become a fantastic adventure. I have learnt to type.

My dear Daisy was the winner of the class for the Best 150th Battersea Dog on the Annual Reuinon show - no Crufts winner could have been more proud and I don't think I have quite come down from my cloud yet.
