Dog Rescue Stories

We're always delighted when our dogs and cats find new homes and love to hear how they are getting on. If you have a Happy Ending story please email it to [email protected] or submit it online via the Your Stories section. Here we share some of the uplifting updates received so far.

We hope that reading about the joy rehomed animals can bring will inspire more people to welcome a Battersea Dogs & Cats Home resident into their life and generate yet more happy endings.

After many tears and looking at the empty spaces where Lucy once laid, we were adamant we would not replace her and go through all this upset ever again. We even walked across the farmland where we used to walk with Lucy, but decided it was too upsetting seeing other people with their dogs while we were by ourselves. It just didn't feel right, so we decided we would not walk there again.

You may remember me by my nom de plume ‘Dolphin’. Like my favourite recording artist Prince, I have now changed my name after a difficult period in my life and am now called Nellie. There are other affectionate sobriquets too, but I would rather start this missive retrospectively. I’m writing to inform you of my gratitude to the kennel hands and re-homers, and offer brief reportage as to the state of my affairs since we parted in October. I have such fond memories of my time with you and since I left, my life has become a fantastic adventure. I have learnt to type.
