More about ARLO
Bright as a button Arlo, based at our Old Windsor centre, is looking for his forever home where he'll be able to use his brain and be kept busy.
Arlo is friendly with people and likes to lean on you for a fuss. We have found that staying calm around Arlo really helps him to stay relaxed; he can get overexcited and this leads to him showing some overstimulated behaviours such as jumping up and mouthing. However, if you are gentle and use the training put in place to engage his brain, he is a super dog to work with and lots of fun.
He spent some time in a working home and knows lots of basic commands such a sit, paw, down, wait, heel and leave it to name a few.
With other dogs, Arlo needs a lot more guidance around appropriate ways to play as he does become too much for some dogs and is not always very good at reading when they are worried. He needs to live as the only pet in his new home at the moment.
Arlo is very food and toy motivated. He learns new things very quickly and we have taught him a 'drop' when he is playing his favourite game, fetch with tennis balls, as this helps him to focus and stops him becoming demanding for his toys. With food, we use treats sparingly when training as he can get a bit cheeky, but with his meals he enjoys all sorts of creative ways of finding his food.
Arlo is looking for experienced owners who are looking for an intelligent, quick-thinking training partner. He would excel at doing a job and does need to be kept busy or he will get bored and find his own entertainment. He really enjoys his walks and exploring new places, and travels well in the car to get there. He will need his own secure, private garden so that he can have easy access to off lead exercise, which helps him to settle.
