More about BERTIE
Bertie is a charming Terrier cross who is looking for new owners who have had experience of owning dogs. He is currently based at Battersea Old Windsor.
He has a worried side and will need training and confidence building continued in the home. He has shown to be uncomfortable with different forms of handling and will need ongoing positive association to help build his confidence around this. Bertie is looking for new owners to support his lack of confidence in different areas and continue slow exposure to help him grow into a well-balanced dog. Due to this and his dog interactions we feel it is best for Bertie’s new home to have a private and secure garden.
Bertie likes to use his voice and can bark in different situations; towards dogs, when asking for attention and travelling in the car. New owners will need to manage this.
Bertie can struggle meeting other dogs and shows clear signs when uncomfortable around them. He seems to have had very little socialisation before coming to us and we feel this is the main contribute to his reactivity and worried side. He has responded well to our training and is improving in confidence every day. He will need ongoing socialisation around other dogs he is looking to be the only dog in the household due to this.
He has an enthusiastic personality that has been slowly shining through during his time with us and loves to play with toys, especially the squeaky ones. Bertie enjoys playing with his favourite people and enjoys fetch games. He needs time to build bonds with new people and toys can come in handy to help with this.
Bertie will be a project dog but will make a fulfilling addition to his new family, if you are interested in rehoming him, please email bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk or call 01784 494 443.
Due to the high number of enquiries, we are only able to respond to enquiries that look to be a suitable match for Bertie.
