More about JESS

Jess is an intelligent and delightful young Lurcher; she loves her toys and jumping in water whenever given the chance. She is located at our Old Windsor centre.

Although she can be bouncy and energetic in typical Lurcher fashion, she does have a sensitive side and lacks confidence in different areas so she will need patient owners that can provide lots of time for her to grow in confidence at her own pace.

Jess has ongoing training for different behaviours we have seen here and in her previous home. Due to her worried side, we feel it is best for Jess to live with adults only and her new home to be in a quiet location.

Jess has shown to have a high chase drive around wildlife. She will need a private and secure garden to help her continue her training and stretch her legs off lead without any distractions.

She has made plenty of doggy friends during her time here but has also shown conflicting behaviours due to her worried side. Jess will need ongoing work around her socialisation and gradual exposure when being introduced to other dogs. At this time, we feel Jess would benefit from being the only dog in the household.

Jess loves her toys and will entertain herself or bring them over to her handler to initiate a gentle tug game. She shown some issues around resource guarding, including toys, high value treats and chews. She has ongoing training to help manage this in the home and has been doing well.

Jess is a clever girl and knows a ‘Drop,’ ‘Away,’ a ‘Sit’ and ‘Wait.’ These will come in handy when continuing her training in her new home.

Although Jess will be a project dog, she is a loveable Lurcher and will make a rewarding companion once given the consistency, training, and stimulation she needs.
