What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your gift to Battersea - at no extra cost to you. If you pay tax in the UK, we can reclaim the basic rate tax (25%) on your gift. So, if you donate £10, it is worth £12.50 to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
How does it work?
This is an illustration of how it works. This is how government pays the extra. All you need to do is opt in.

If every tax-paying Battersea supporter signed a Gift Aid declaration, we would have an extra £5 million a year to help dogs and cats! It doesn't matter how big your donations is, you can always add extra.

Gift Aid FAQs
Answer
No. We claim Gift Aid from the tax you have already paid, so there are no hidden charges to you. But it is important to be aware that if you pay less Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year, then it is your responsibility to pay any difference. Ticking the box for Gift Aid does not change your tax status. (copy from RSPCA)
Answer
You can use Gift Aid if the amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax you've paid in any tax year (from 6 April one year to 5 April the next) covers the amount of tax we will reclaim on your donations. For advice on how to check if you've paid enough tax to use Gift aid, please visit the HMRC website. (copy from RSPCA)
