More about ALF

Alf is a truly delightful dog who adores people. He is based at Battersea in Old Windsor, but is currently spending some time in a foster home.

Alf is having a lovely time in his temporary foster home - he has been housetrained, travels well in the car and is being lots of fun. Alf’s main joy in life is playing with toys and he’d play all day if he could. He’s very bright and learns quickly. He also loves to sunbathe and will seek out the sunbeams shining through the window.

He is very tactile and would be with people all day if he had the choice. He will happily lay across your lap when he has a groom and calm hands-on contact helps him to relax. He is quite a sensitive dog and can get worried about certain aspects of handling, so does well with people that he trusts and is familiar with.

If Alf sees a puddle he makes a bee line towards it for a paddle and splash around, he also loves a paddling pool in the hot weather - it’s very entertaining to watch him having so much fun. He's been to the beach and had great fun in the surf.

Alf knows several commands -he knows sit, down, touch, let's go, back, stay, toilet, as well as his name, a recall and go to bed, he's a very bright boy!

Alf is friendly with some dogs but can find others, particularly larger dogs, a bit worrying and he does need some further support in this area, however he has made amazing progress during his time on foster. He'll happily walk with calmer dogs and would enjoy some steady dog friends in his new home, though he does need to live without any other pets in his home.
