More about ALF

Alf is fun, lively and very enthusiastic about life. Alf is based at Battersea in Old Windsor, but is currently spending some time in a foster home.

Alf is having a lovely time in his temporary foster home -he has been housetrained, travels well in the car (and likes to rest his head on the passenger’s shoulder) and is being lots of fun. Alf’s main joy in life is playing with toys and he’d play all day if he could. He sometimes forgets his manners and doesn’t know when to stop, so has some training in place to help with which will need to be continued in his new home. He’s very bright and needs plenty of training to keep his mind busy.

He is very tactile and would be with people all day if he had the choice. He will happily lay across your lap when he has a groom and calm hands-on contact helps him to relax. He is quite a sensitive dog and can get worried about certain aspects of handling, and does well with people that he trusts and is familiar with.

If Alf sees a puddle he makes a bee line towards it for a paddle and splash around, it’s very entertaining to watch him having so much fun.

He needs some further support around other dogs. With some, he can be a little uncomfortable and worried but with others he has shown to be exuberant when playing and has shown an element of chase. Alf will need to be kept on lead when on walks for the time being for this reason and needs owners who feel confident to continue his training when he is on his walks.

We feel that with a consistent routine and the opportunity to bond with his owners, Alf’s affectionate character will really shine through and he’ll be lots of fun for the right home who can meet all his needs and give him the time he needs.
