More about Alice
Meet our amazing Alice! Alice was brought into our care after retiring from racing and is now looking for a new forever home to rest her paws. She is quite petite for a Greyhound, typically we recommend using a precautionary muzzle for ex-racers but due to her calm demeanour she does not need to wear one. However this may change if she begins to show chasey behaviours once she has come out of her shell.
Currently Alice spends most of the day curled tightly in a ball in her bed, worried of the world. Her confidence is progressing day by day with her humans and although worried by other dogs she is slowly getting more confident around them so could possibly live with another calm steady dog that will help her come out of her shell.
Alice has been seen around other greyhounds, bully breeds and small dogs onsite and is consistent across the board in how she interacts with them. She is worried by life around her but will greet dogs nicely and politely and will walk around with them, but will also do her own thing and hasn't yet gained the confidence to play with other dogs. She could potentially live with another greyhound in the home to help her build on her confidence. She seems to benefit from social learning, watching how her greyhound friends interact with humans and building her confidence in this way so may benefit from a confident but not too over bearing role model.
She is looking for new owners that have some experience of worried dogs to help continue her socialisation in a new home and provide her a little safe haven to call home. Due to her worried side she would benefit most from a quiet mature household with a secure garden to help attend to her needs. Alice has not lived in home environment and therefore will need new owners to expand her world up slowly and at her own pace, including gently introducing her to day-to-day household sounds.
Building a bond with Alice and helping her confidence blossom will be a truly rewarding journey, one that brings endless joy to the family lucky enough to call her their own.
