More about AMMI
Meet Amadeus, or Ammi as his friends call him, our handsome Akita mix!
We unfortunately do not have a lot of information for our Ammi's previous behaviour as he was sadly left tied up alone. Our vets have estimated he is only around 18 months old.
He has for the most part been a gentle giant, however he loves his people - sometimes a bit too much - and has had a couple of instances of getting overstimulated. This could be stress related and we have seen big improvements with continued training.
One of our favourite things is watching Ammi roll around with toys, or throw them for himself to catch. He also enjoys playing with people but can be happy to entertain himself.
Ammi generally really enjoys other dogs company, however he is a mixed bag in this area. He can be overly playful, sometimes a little too amorous, and when frustrated he can be grumpy initially. That being said he has a good circle of friends here. New owners will need to be confident in finding suitable doggy friends for him.
True to the breed, handling isn't Ammi's favourite thing, unless it's cuddles!
Ammi should find his new home with owners who have experience with the Akita breed or similar, who are willing to put in some training around calm handling and continued calm socialisation both with dogs and new people. He has picked up all training onsite quickly and is a very smart lad!
