More about Dahlia
Meet our darling Dahlia!
Dahlia arrived at Battersea after being found as a stray, meaning we have no information on her history.
This sweet girl lacks confidence and can be nervous of new people as well as known people and the big scary world around her - but has been super affectionate and loving with staff that know her on a very close level.
Dahlia does have strong barrier reactions to unknown people which come from fear and is likely a learnt behaviour to keep people away from her. When challenged she has been able to make friends at times. New owners should be aware of her reactive nature and implement training as well as preventative measures to manage her reactions moving forward.
Dahlia was initially worried of other dogs and even told off another dog for being too much in play. However, she has grown in confidence and has shown her playful side. She could live with another well matched, small, steady dog.
Dahlia is looking for owners who ideally have Dachshund experience, or have the knowledge of their typical breed traits. Daxies can be vocal, and are more commonly wary of strangers. We have seen these behaviours in Dahlia and she has shown to have harsh reactions towards people especially over barriers (e.g. baby gates). Owners should understand that Dahlia will need continued confidence building and continued training around new people moving forward.
