More about Gilbert

Meet sweet Gilbert!

Gilbert was found as a stray, which means we have no information on his history and what exposure he has had, prior to his arrival at Battersea.

Gilbert has struggled to settle into kennel life and has exhibited stress behaviours and hard puppy mouthing towards new and known members of kennel staff, he can pester with this but has been responsive to training around this and since being able to go outside and explore the world more, has shown a significant reduction in these behaviours. Clicker training has since been implemented and Gilbert has shown a desire to learn! He loves his food and will show you his tricks before you can ask.

Due to Gilberts age and vaccination status we have no information on his exposure around dogs prior to Battersea. Onsite he has been seen around a greyhound where he was friendly and playful as well as a male mongrel who he initiated some lovely bully style games with, as well as being able to have nice independent moments. The greyhound gave a warranted tell off as she didn't appreciate his playful jumping but Gilbert did listen.

New owners should ensure they continue to build on his socialisation experiences and exposures, keeping it positive and constructive.
Gilbert is a Cane Corso puppy, which means he will be a large dog. New owners will need to have confidence and knowledge of his breed, space to accommodate his size in the home and ability to physically walk.
