More about Hilda

Meet the amazing Hilda, our wirehaired dachshund.

Hilda is a young lady who is vocal, energetic, playful, affectionate and always eager to learn as she continues to build in confidence with staff onsite. To set her up for success with her training moving forward, she will need to live in a location where there are not too many dogs around. Her ideal home will have experience with training reactive dogs or experience with the breed.

Hilda has been very vocal towards other dogs. She has been easily triggered by the sight of them where she will then start to alarm bark and become quite distressed which we believe is from under confidence.

Hilda does need owners willing to put in some training when it comes to her dog social skills. The training focuses on guiding her to making calmer choices to build her social skills. Hilda with time has started to enjoy the company of playful, yet respectful dogs but can get worried by more over the top styles of play.

This young lady adores her known people and loves a good toy play session which has been a great way to bond with her.
A private garden would be an ideal way to keep Hilda busy and continue building her confidence as well as practicing her recall training in a low distraction environment.
