Meet our Poodle Jack!

Jack arrived at Battersea with six of his siblings from another rescue. Unfortunately, we have no information about their previous history. Jack is under the care of the London Battersea team and is currently spending time in a foster home.

Jack, like all of his siblings, has found the move to our busy London site quite challenging especially in those first few days. Jack is worried lad, lacking in experience with the outside world. He was initially kennelled with another dog from the same home, and did get a lot from having him around. They were on foster together but have since gone their separate ways as the other dog seemed to be setting Jack off! Once alone on foster, Jack became a different dog and even started to accept some affection from his foster carers. Jack could still live with a steady, small, role model type dog to help show him the ropes but this is not essential.

Jack has been quite worried outside, trembles in our paddocks but has been making tremendous progress and is building in confidence and exploring a little more as the days go on. Like all of his siblings Jack is struggling with walking but a lot getting more adaptable to this as well, considering he may never have been walked before!

Jack has been able to make friends over time with his bonded handlers and will settle onto their laps and accept a fuss. We have been utilising this to help us being able to pick them up when they are more comfortable on our laps. Though to reiterate, this has taken some time to get to this stage and can still be very unsure.

Jack is looking for a dedicated family who are happy to commit the time needed to help him settle into a new environment and build his confidence. He would suit owners with some previous experience of anxious dogs who are confident in reading dog body language and advocating for his needs. For these reasons, he is also looking for a home with a private garden and a quiet location.
