More about Monty

Monty is a lively 7-year-old Cavachon who is looking for a patient family that will give him the time he needs to settle into his new home. He loves getting out to explore and will thrive with owners who are happy to build his confidence at his own pace.

Monty enjoys his daily walks and takes every opportunity to sniff his surroundings. In his previous home he enjoyed playing fetch and would suit an active family who can provide him with plenty of opportunities for exercise and enrichment. While he settles into his new home, Monty is likely to benefit from quieter walking routes as his confidence grows. A rural or suburban home would suit him best.

Since arriving at Battersea Old Windsor, Monty has shown a mixture of friendly and worried behaviours when meeting new people. He has formed strong bonds with people who have taken the time to get to know him, showing a sweet and affectionate side once he feels comfortable. His new owners will need to allow him to build bonds at his own pace.

In his previous home, Monty showed some reactivity towards other dogs, including barking and pulling towards them. Although we have not seen this behaviour during his stay with us, he has generally preferred to keep to himself around other dogs and has shown little interest in interacting with them. For this reason, Monty is looking to be the only dog in his new home.

Monty is looking for a multi-carer home where someone will be around for most of the day. He will be best suited to living with older teenagers who are able to recognise when he may be feeling worried and are happy to give him space when needed. Any time left alone should be very introduced gradually, Monty struggled with being left alone in his previous home and we have seen similar behaviours during his stay here. New owners should be prepared that Monty may never be able to cope for longer periods on his own.

He has been mostly housetrained during his time at Battersea. A secure garden will help him continue building his housetraining routine and give him space to enjoy outdoor time in his own space.

Any potential new owners will need to speak to a Battersea vet prior to rehoming.

With a patient family who will let him settle at his own pace, Monty is sure to blossom into a loving and devoted companion.
