More about Murphy
Murphy is a bright, bouncy Rough Collie Cross with a huge personality and even bigger energy levels. He’s clever, affectionate and mischievous.
This high energy boy has become over excited in different situations. He is looking for new owners who can provide plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation. He is full of potential and will need ongoing training to help him channel that energy in the right direction. He is looking for his new home to have a private and secure garden to give him the space he needs to continue training and burn off his energy. Despite his seemingly outgoing nature, Murphy has some anxieties around noise and sometimes walking. In his previous home he often struggled to leave the house to go for a walk and he does sometimes stop on his walks when he's worried. He has shown to enjoy off lead time in hired secure dog fields and this is perhaps something that his owners could do as he is settling and adjusting, rather than walk him from the house. He will be a work in progress with this and, although we hope he learns to enjoy his walks more, this will be a work in progress for Murphy.
Routines will also be important for Murphy’s development and learning calm behaviours in general. Structured toy play, down time and training sessions in the home will come in handy to help him settle into his new home.
In his previous home he struggled with noise sensitivity and being left alone. New owners will need to go slow when introducing him to new environments and give him time to settle in before gradually building up his time alone, providing him a safe space to retreat to and slowly get him to household noises.
He has been social during his time with us around other dogs, he has shown to be playful and read other dogs well. As he is still young and working on manners around dogs, we feel he would be able to live with another dog who can be a positive role model for Murphy and show him the ropes in his new home.
While Murphy is looking for his new owners to support his ongoing development and training, he has all the qualities to become a loyal and fulfilling companion for his new family.
