Pebbles is a blind Jack Russell Terrier puppy looking for a calm and understanding home where she can grow in confidence at her own pace. She will need dedicated owners who are prepared to provide plenty of support, patience and consistency while she learns to navigate the world around her.
Pebbles loves people and will recognise the voices of her favourite people. She also will respond to a gentle tap on the floor, helping her find people nearby. As she is blind, she has been using her mouth to explore the world. She may mouth people and objects as she works out her surroundings. Her new owners will need to understand that this is a normal part of how she experiences the world and guide her with positive training.
A quiet home with a predictable routine will be essential for Pebbles. As she cannot rely on her sight, she learns her environment through smell, sound and the different textures beneath her paws. She will take time to build a mental map of new surroundings and may bump into objects while she is learning. For this reason, it is important that furniture and her environment remain as consistent as possible to help her build confidence and independence.
Pebbles will need a home with a secure private garden. This will allow her to safely explore off lead and become familiar with her surroundings. Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys playing independently and has all the enthusiasm you would expect from a young terrier, happily running between her favourite toys.
Pebbles is currently having carry walks while she learns about the outside world and new owners will need to build up to gentle walks in quiet areas. New experiences can be overwhelming, so her owners will need to introduce new environments slowly and allow her plenty of time to process them. As she grows, she will need the physical exercise, mental stimulation and training expected of an active Jack Russell Terrier.
Pebbles has had limited experience around other dogs and will need carefully managed introductions, making it clear to other owners that she is blind. Quiet walking routes will suit her best while her confidence develops. She could happily live with a calm, steady dog who would be gentle around her and accepting of the fact that she may occasionally bump into them or use her mouth while exploring.
With patient owners who are willing to help her navigate the world, maintain a consistent routine and celebrate every milestone, Pebbles will grow into a fun and incredibly rewarding companion.

Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
