More about Pickle

Pickle by name, Pickle by nature! This feisty Terrier is looking for a home with owners who are very familiar with tenacious, energetic Terriers and their specific needs. He is based at our Old Windsor centre.

Pickle is lots of fun and is happiest when he is out and about exploring, and he will need lots and lots of exercise as well as activities that keep his brain busy. He adores his toys and particularly likes fluffies and squeaky toys that he can chase and chew on.

With other dogs, Pickle does often demonstrate some undesirable behaviour, sometimes running to the end of the lead and barking towards them. We have put some training in place to help support him with this and he has met dogs and enjoyed walking with them. However, this will very much be a work in progress so his new owners need to be fully committed to carrying this on and working with his behaviour as it develops once he has settled in. He needs to live as the only dog in his new home.

As is often the case with Terriers, Pickle has a very strong prey/chase drive and will bark and run towards wildlife and birds. He may not change this behaviour so in some locations he is likely going to need to be kept on lead or a longline when he is on walks to help keep him safe. There are lots of fun activities and training that owners can do with Pickle that will satisfy his desire to chase and give him more appropriate outlets. He'll also enjoy things such as opportunities to dig, chase toys and use his nose to follow scents.

Pickle is friendly with people and says hello with the same enthusiasm that he shows to everything else in life. He can be mouthy when being stroked as everything is so exciting, and he can also use his mouth and nip at clothing when bored or frustrated; again this will be something to manage and work on at home.

For patient, active and outdoor-loving Terrier experienced owners, Pickle will be a worthwhile and enjoyable project. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Pickle you can e-mail our rehoming team on bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.

We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual animal, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehoming.

Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog you have contacted us about.
