Battersea urges public to look beyond appearance and consider its monochrome moggies this national black cat day

24 Oct 2024

With thousands of cats being cared for by the leading animal welfare charity each year, Battersea welcomes cats of all ages, personalities and coat colours, however its black feline residents can often be overlooked in favour of their colourful counterparts. To celebrate National Black Cat Day (27 October), the much-loved charity is encouraging the public to look beyond a cat’s appearance and consider its beloved black cats waiting for a second chance.

Jack
2004 - 2024

Some of my fondest memories are when we first adopted him after him after he had a leg amputation. He hid away for a while but I'll always remember the first time he climbed onto the sofa and snuggled into me. From then we just snuggled all the time, he was my little shadow. I loved seeing him sunbathe by the windows and play with his toys whilst having the zoomies. He was a small baby but he's left a huge hole in my heart and my life. Love and miss you always Jack.
