Battersea is joining the nation in mourning the loss of Paul O’Grady - an entertainment legend and much-loved Ambassador who helped raise the profile of Battersea to millions around the world through the hugely popular ITV series Paul O’Grady for the Love of Dogs.

Battersea is warning of a worrying increase in the number of dogs having their appearance altered through the painful and illegal practice of ear cropping. The charity believes social media, influencers and possibly even the normalisation of cosmetic procedures are all to blame.

Animal welfare charity Battersea is today welcoming the Government’s announcement to introduce legislation that will make the microchipping of pet cats compulsory. The new law will help reunite lost cats with their loving owners.

A blind seven-year-old Cocker Spaniel called Griffin has recently found love with a family in South London after being cared for by leading animal welfare charity, Battersea.
