In 2021, the Government’s Kept Animals Bill began its journey into law. However, after a promising start, progress stalled and the Bill was eventually shelved in May 2023. In its place, three separate Private Member’s Bills (non-Government led legislation) have been introduced in Parliament in 2024, covering the import of dogs and cats, pet abduction and livestock worrying.

New Battersea Research Finds Third of Owners Say Pets Improve Mental Health As Poll Reveals Average UK Person Watches 17 Minutes of Online Animal Content Each Day

The average adult in the UK spends 17 minutes each day watching animal content online according to new research from animal welfare charity Battersea. Millennials (35-44 year olds) were the most likely to be scrolling social media for animal content, with one in ten watching animal videos for over half an hour each day.
