Adopted from Battersea in 2014

Fudge was adopted from Battersea in 2014 and was the most subdued little gent. He came to the bars and licked a hand and the rest, as they say, was history. Fudge was the sweetest, cuddliest dog who loved sniff walks, snaffling food (especially things he shouldn’t have had!) and being with his humans. He struggled with other dogs and loud noises but always found comfort with us and being snuggled up. Fudge was the most emotionally intuitive dog we have ever known. 

If you had a hard day he’d somehow know and plop his big head on your lap as if to say “I’m here”. When someone would cry, he’d whine until he could sit next to you. He felt comfort and joy bringing you comfort and joy. In his younger years he’d love to go for a run and roll about in the grass. We’d go for road trips in our camper van or tent, huge mammoth walks, beach trips, anywhere and everywhere. As he got older he was more interested in cuddling up on the sofa and sleeping for as long as was humanly possible! He’d still do that with a little half smile and a wag though. He never lost his hilarious personality. 

Three and a half years ago we brought our baby home and Fudge really lived up to the “nanny dog” part of his breed. He never left his side and was always so kind and gentle. He wanted to be where his little brother was and protected him anywhere and everywhere we went. Fudge passed away in 2025 having reached the incredible age of 15 and experiencing declining health. When we said goodbye even in those moments he was calm and comfortable wagging away before he fell asleep. 

There will never be a dog like Fudge. He truly was unique and a wonderful companion to do life with. We are so grateful to Battersea for rehoming Fudge to us as without us having that opportunity we wouldn’t have had 11 years of laughter, cuddles, oodles of personality and the best companionship anyone could ask for. We could not love you anymore buddy.
