How does it work?
You will already have paid tax on your income. When you donate to a charity, the donation comes from money you’ve earned after tax. Gift Aid lets Battersea claim back the tax you’ve already paid on that amount, so the Government tops up your donation at no cost to you. It works out as 25p extra for every £1 you give.

If every tax-paying Battersea supporter signed a Gift Aid declaration, we would have an extra £1 million a year (check) to help dogs and cats. We couldn’t do what we do without you – and with Gift Aid, we can achieve even more for dogs and cats when they need us most.

Gift Aid FAQs
Answer in plain English. E.g. You have to be a UK taxpayer to Gift Aid. You can claim Gift Aid on donations up to four times the tax you’ve paid, because Gift Aid lets charities reclaim 25p for every £1 you donate – so £1 of tax you’ve paid covers up to £4 in donations.
