Young Mastiff Bounce arrived at Battersea London after being found as a stray, by a local dog warden.
Bounce’s first few days at Battersea were difficult. She found kennel life overwhelming, often barking at the bars, panting, and struggling to settle.
Bounce was full of energy and enthusiasm, especially around other dogs. She was often vocal and would pull on the lead to say hello to new canine friends.
Bounce had only friendly intentions, but as a larger dog, she could prove too much for some dogs and too strong for some people. Battersea’s skilled behaviourists stepped in to devise a specialised training plan for Bounce to ease her stress, help calm her enthusiasm, and set her up for success in a new home.
Fortunately, Bounce had a zest for learning and was motivated by both toys and food, which made training a joy.
With time, patience and guidance, the Battersea behaviour team started to see the real Bounce shine through. She learned to relax on her bed, and most importantly, she began thriving in the company of other dogs and was much calmer.
Bounce excelled with harness training and soon learned to sit and wait, with the help of treats.
As an active dog who needed lots of physical and mental stimulation, Battersea staff knew that Bounce required a special new home dedicated to continuing her training.
After almost two months in Battersea’s care, the ideal family gave Bounce a loving new home. She is going from strength to strength with her training and has even befriended the two resident cats, who are lovingly helping her to keep her excitement levels in check.
