Unlikely duo French Bulldog Rosie and Dachshund Crumb arrived at Battersea’s Brands Hatch Centre when their owners relocated and were unable to taken them.
5-year-old Rosie and 6-year-old Crumb went everywhere together. They were both a little worried when they first arrived at Battersea as they found their new surroundings overwhelming. However, after lots of play sessions and affection from our staff, they soon settled in.
Their loving bond charmed everyone they met. It was so heartwarming to see how their friendship helped them navigate each new experience. The pair could often be found snuggled up together in their favourite cosy bed.
Before they could find a new home, both dogs required extensive medical treatment from our skilled Clinic team.
As a flat-faced dog, Rosie underwent successful BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery. This is often necessary for breeds with compromised airways, like French Bulldogs, to improve their breathing and overall comfort. This surgery meant that Rosie's quality of life significantly improved - a vital support for such an active dog. She also had treatment for an eye ulcer that had been troubling her. Meanwhile, Crumb had an examination of the ears along with the surgical removal of a benign lipoma from his chest.
The adorable pair were briefly separated during their procedures and pined for each other, but it wasn’t long before they were reunited.
As part of their recovery, they both spent some time with one of our wonderful foster carers so that they could peacefully recuperate within a home environment and prepare for their future home. They rebuilt their strength and were soon both back on their paws and having fun together.
Thanks to the generosity of our incredible supporters, like you, Rosie and Crumb were helped every step of the way throughout their time at Battersea. Once fully recovered, these beautiful best friends finally found that new beginning they had been waiting for. They are now living happily together in their loving new home in the countryside.
