Scooby's Story

04 Mar 2026

A beautiful greyhound named Scooby arrived at Battersea Old Windsor in need of a second chance at happiness.

Sadly, Scooby found kennel life quite stressful at first. The change of environment was understandably overwhelming, so our dedicated team developed a care plan to help him settle. This included Scooby spending time in the offices, enjoying food enrichment activities (using puzzle toys and games to keep dogs happy and mentally stimulated) and lots of playing. Scooby started to show us his playful side and how much he loved his new toys (and how skilled he was at tossing them up into the air).

Settled and feeling more confident, Scooby showed us his sweet and gentle nature, and it was clear that he loved being around people, going for walks and exploring the outdoors.

Scooby also got to spend time with one of our devoted foster carers who helped him get used to a home environment to prepare him for finding his own home and that perfect match. Scooby loved this new experience and could often be found resting his head on his foster carer’s lap (or proudly looking after their slippers for them and carrying them around the house to be helpful).

After more than six months in our care, Scooby finally found a loving home. The help that every rescue at Battersea receives is only made possible by the kindness of our amazing supporters. Thanks to your generosity, Scooby now spends his days exploring his new garden, playing with his squeaky ball and living his happiest life.
