Eight Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross puppies who arrived at Battersea at just six weeks old have now found their forever homes.
The puppies, all named after characters from the hit show ‘Heated Rivalry’ also featured in the newest episode of ITV’s ‘For the Love of Dogs’ with Alison Hammond.
Puppies Shane, Ilya, Rose and Kip can be seen swapping rivalry for cuddles with Alison on this week’s episode, including heading out on an adventure to Battersea Power Station to explore new environments and meet members of the public. Puppy socialisation exercises like these help young dogs learn that the world is a safe and positive place and it’s an essential step in raising confident, relaxed dogs ready for any plot twists.
Ali Taylor, Head of Animal Behaviour at Battersea said: “Socialisation is a vital ongoing process that every owner should implement into their routine to raise happy and healthy dogs. Those first few months are a vital window, when puppies are naturally curious and open to new experiences, and getting this stage right can shape how they view the world as adults. At Battersea, we focus on gentle introductions to a wide range of people, places and experiences so every puppy has the chance to grow into a confident, resilient dog.”
Kip - who now goes by Milo - is settling into his forever home beautifully, where he is living alongside the family's older dog, Nelly: “Milo is growing into such a happy, confident boy. He absolutely loves people and his favourite thing to do is give kisses. He is developing such a strong bond with Nelly, we know they are going to be best friends for life” Milo’s new owners said.
Shane’s new owner said: From the second we got home Shane fit right in with us. Battersea has done an amazing job matching him to our family and he gets on so well with our other dog, Nala. He has quickly surpassed her in size and it's amazing to watch them together and see his cheeky personality shine through. He has made our home whole, and we couldn’t love him any more.”
