Channel 4 have responded to the WHISKAS 9 Out of 10 Cats campaign, with a social media post showing cat-related clips over the years from a re-named ‘9 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’. Thank you, Channel 4!
This comes after pet food brand, WHISKAS, showed that 9 out of 10 cats prefer its food. To show their support, nine cats at Battersea put their paws behind a letter to Channel 4 asking for the show, 8 Out of 10 Cats, to be renamed 9 Out of 10 Cats.
To honour Channel 4’s witty response, three Battersea cats were re-named after panellists and guests from the show - Joe Whiskerson, Sarah Meowlican and Bob Pawtimer.

Joe Whiskerson
Joe Whiskerson was renamed after 9 Out of 10 Cats panellist Joe Wilkinson. Once he gets to know you, he is a gentle soul who loves a fuss and will actively seek out your attention (just like he does with his carers hand - pulling it towards him for more strokes).
Sarah Meowlican
Sarah Meowlican gets her namesake from comedy legend Sarah Millican. This lovely lass is fun and playful, with a love for cardboard boxes and ping pong balls.
Bob Pawtimer
Bob Pawtimer was named after much-loved comedian Bob Mortimer, who Channel 4 themselves recommended to help us rename our cats in this campaign! Bob Pawtimer is the loveliest, smoochiest cat and adores a fuss, his head bumps will make your heart melt.
Mew Sanders
After Channel 4 responded to the campaign with a Lou Sanders meme, we couldn’t resist renaming one of our cats after the comedian and cat lover herself! Our Mew Sanders is an inquisitive and friendly girl once she knows you and adores spending time with her favourite people.
Sausage
Sausage wastes no time making himself known to his carers. He’ll happily come over for fuss, attention and a bit of quality time with his favourite humans.
Rob Beckcat - Rehomed
Rob Beckcat, whose name was inspired by the new series’ team captain Rob Beckett, is a ball of energy with plenty of love to give. He also has polydactylism – meaning he has additional toes - which makes him an extra cool little boy.
Lady Ethel
Lady Ethel is an older girl who is very sweet and loves a fuss. She is also a very chatty character and likes to impart the wisdom of her years with her very endearing meow.
Fisherman Tom - Rehomed
Fisherman Tom is a smoochy older boy who, come rain or shine, enjoys being outdoors. He is also very friendly and loves snugging up for head and chin rubs.
